Rufus was the "Thunder" in the "Thunder and Lightning Combination".  Rufus was a team captain his senior year. He was selected to the 8-5A All-District team. He was also selected to the Texas Sports Writers Association All-State Team and the AP All-State Team.

 Rufus is attending Trinity Valley Community where he is the starting running back.
